I spent a lot of time figuring out how I wanted to decorate my daughters’ room when we moved into our house. I knew that we were only going to be there for 6 months so I didn’t want to do anything that was going to be too hard to take down, but I also wanted to make sure that it was a sweet space for them to sleep! I ended up going pretty minimal which is great now as we are packing up and preparing to move into our forever home! Here is a quick glimpse at what I did as an in between decor!
I created a paint chip mobile for the littlest! i found an awesome lampshade at a thrift store and cut off the fabric to get at the curved shape. A quick coat of white spray paint and it was ready to go! I went to the home improvement store and picked up about 30 paint chips in a variety of pinks, greens and browns.
Then I used my 2″ and 1″ hole punches to punch circles out of the chips! I used fishing line tied to the top of the frame and then rubber cement to glue the circle punches back to back over the fishing line. on the very bottom circle I glued a penny in between the paint chip circles so that they would hang straight! it took me about 30 minutes start to finish but it made such a statement in her room! not to mention she loves looking at it when she’s in her crib!
I also bought some wooden letters to spell out her name and painted the edges with pinks and greens. I then traced the letters (upside down) onto scrapbook paper and cut them out. I mod podged them onto the letters and let them dry! Then I attached small eye hooks to the top points of the letters (the “L” was super tricky) and used pretty gift wrap ribbon to hang them from tacks in the wall! Done and done!
This could easily be done with washi tape, or by just painting them with craft paint! Both my daughters love pointing out their own and their sister’s name on the wall!
My middlest daughter also got her name on the wall above her bed and these awesome circles came from the dollar store! Super awesome find as they are vinyl clings that will just peel off the wall when we move! Big impact for practically no money, which is just how I like it!!
I absolutely love staples and their engineering prints! This is one from my youngest daughters newborn photo’s. It is just attached with spray adhesive to a foam board from the dollar store (I love the place!!) and the tacked into the wall. There is also another vinyl saying from the dollar store next to it that says “Once upon a time there was a princess…” which I think is just the sweetest sentiment for this picture!
Back in the old days when I worked my littles went to daycare. My oldest was never much of a painter as a toddler, I used to refer to his style as minimalistic! However, my middlest is quite the opposite! She loves to run her hands and fingers through the paint and doesn’t leave a spot untouched! This is one of her masterpieces from last year that had such amazing swirls and twirls that we decided to frame it and put it in her room! The photo in front of it is from when she was a baby and has some effects added from the good old “picnik” days!
The lamp was a gift from my in-laws for her second birthday and that is THE best baby monitor ever! You don’t have to have the sound on it at all but it has a light bar which shows you when the baby is crying. I love that I can see her crying, but don’t actually have to hear it! I mean I hear enough crying during the day, I shouldn’t be subjected to it at night too!!
This storage system is great! it keeps everything tucked out of sight and because the drawers are interchangeable you can get any color you want! Obviously we went with a green and pink color scheme for the girls’ room so we bought a variety of those colors! I am the one who does all the laundry in our house and for the most part the one who gets the girls dressed every day, so I knew exactly where everyone’s clothes were. However, every once in a while my hubby gets the girls ready for me and he could never remember who’s clothes were which, so I made these cute little signs for each drawer (my middlest has since destroyed all of hers, but you get the idea…)!
I went into word and drew a 4″ x 4″ square box and typed the word of whichever clothing item was going to be in the drawer on it. I did a sheet for each of my girls with Shirts, Pants, Pajamas, Socks and Misc. After I printed them, I cut them out and used my Slice machine to cut out their first initial for the top of each card. I then glued those on the card. Originally I used ribbon to attach the cards to each drawer but the first couple of time the girls got their hands on them they ripped them off 🙁 So instead I took some mini binder clips and covered them in pretty scrapbook paper. and clipped the cards to the drawer handles! Super easy and very durable!
Last week I showed you my son’s Avenger bedroom! Once we move the girls will each be getting a more permanent themed room so come back and check in with me!!

I was so dead set on having a little girl with a name that could have so many nicknames! it is funny how what you imagine you will call your baby is rarely what you actually end up calling them! i thought for sure i would call her belle, but she is totally my annie!!

Fantastic ideas for a temp room, I have an Elizabeth and both my girls have 9 lettered names too, ( the other is Madeleine) it means thise cheap letters add up lol love the room xo

Madeleine was one of the names we considered with our littlest! I really liked the nickname maddie… It is worth waiting for the letters to go on sale at Joann’s or Michaels and then stocking up. My nephew has a shorter name so I ended up picking up the giant 12″ paper mache letters for his name in the nursery and it wasn’t too much since they were on sale!!

I love the letters!!! 😉 And we both have a Daughter named Annabelle. 🙂 I call her AB for short on my blog. My Family members make fun of me for it. 😉 Love the way you did that large print!!! Something I have been wanting to do for the wall going up my stairs. Can’t wait to see what you do with the permanent rooms!

I loved the name Annabelle, mostly because I really wanted a name with lots of nicknames! 🙂 We call our annie most of the time, but she has about 100 other nicknames too! I have a bunch of the engineering prints in my house (almost every room) and I love them!!! I love your blog as well, you guys are so much fun to follow!!
