Did you forget where we left off? Me too! Go here and here to read the first two parts of my crazy wheel of fortune experience!!
Okay, so now that we are caught up, let’s go on! I have flown in and out of Sea-Tac enough times to know my way around and to know that it is always an adventure. This time was no different. I was flying Alaska and they have gates in pretty much every corner of the airport! I checked in and ventured to find my way to my gate. It ended up being two escalators and two train rides later that I finally found it! Talk about getting the run around!
I checked in with the woman working at the gate and settled down to wait for boarding to begin. I decide to check my facebook, email and instagram and when I look up to see if we are getting close I realize that I am surrounded by A LOT of very tall men. I surreptitiously glance around the determine that yes, this is the UW men’s basketball team. Of course I decide to take a pic to show all of you (and my hubby), but alas I failed to get an autograph! My hubby was soooo disappointed because apparently Shawn Kemp Jr. plays for them and he is kind of a big deal. I don’t really like basketball, so how was I to know!!
Now here I was starting to get nervous. I was further down on the list of stand by’s and now the entire mens basketball team and all their coaches and other folk were going to be getting on my plane…this didn’t look good. I waited very, very patiently (which is not my strong suit) and watched as they began boarding. Pretty quickly I was the only one left in the terminal. I headed on up to the gate to find out how it was looking, but they were shutting the door. That my friends is NEVER a good sign. The woman let me know that she would check and let me know.
After what seemed like a very long time she hurried over to me and told me there was 1 seat left on the plane and i was good to go. The catch, I wasn’t allowed to bring any of my things. No purse, no luggage, no nothing! I slipped my phone in my pocket and handed over the rest of my things to her to stow under the plane! I sent my hubby a quick text to let him know I was taking off and then my phone died and I was off on my adventure for real!
Once we landed I hurried to the shuttle area to find my ride to the hotel. And then I waited, and waited, and waited. Since before we took off my phone died (I totally need a new phone!), I ventured back inside to find an outlet to plug my phone in and call the hotel. Wouldn’t you know it LAX was not chock full of outlets on the outside of the security gate. I found one behind a very nice ladies information desk and called the hotel. They said they would send the shuttle and it would be there in about 45 minutes! Seriously folks, it was like 10:30 at night and I was exhausted!! I sat there are charged my phone and called my hubby who had called close to a zillion times worrying about me (he thought it was an hour long flight) and then went back outside to wait for the shuttle.
Finally it arrived, I hopped on and off we went to the hotel!
