Welcome to the April Craftily Ever Challenge!! Whether you stumbled here on accident after a long day of interneting or if you heard that there might be something cool going on and wanted to see for yourself OR if you have been counting down the days until this very moment, I’m glad you’re here. I am so excited to be hosting a crafty challenge that takes things to the next level. You might remember THIS post, where I explained where and why I got the idea for this little challenge of mine.
This month’s challenge theme is PORCH MAKEOVERS! I’m lucky enough to be sponsored this month by Modern Masters. They are a company I have worked with in the past, and I am always blown away by their customer support and the high quality of their product. I received a free quart of Front Door paint from them to try out and knew immediately that my back door (the only one I use) was going to be getting a makeover! First off let me explain how awkward our back porch is. There are 4 doorways and about 20 sq ft of floor space. There isn’t enough room for a chair or bench of any kind and there is no “real” protection from the weather. We do have a multitude of fence gates though…
So let’s talk porch makeovers, whatever that looks like and means to you it’s all welcome! Don’t forget that submissions close at midnight on the 7th so if you are planning on entering, you better move quick! Voting starts then as well, so once you’ve secured your spot(s) get to the business of telling people about how awesome you are and encouraging them to vote for you! The project with the most votes will win a quart of Front Door Paint from Modern Masters, a month of free advertising (Happily Ever After Spot) on my site and earn an entry into the GRAND PRIZE challenge at the end of the year! I promise it’s gonna be awesome! I’ve got some amazing sponsors lined up for the upcoming months and I can’t wait to share them with you!
Here’s what I had to start with, bear with me, because it’s UGLY!
I started off by washing my door thoroughly and letting it dry overnight. Then in between baking cupcakes I painted the door. It took about 20 minutes to dry in between each coat and it needed 3 coats to get a full and rich color. So it was an hour investment, but OMG! it is amazing! The paint looks so luxourious and the color is divine. When I first brought up the idea of painting our back door to my husband he said no. Then I told him he could pick any color he wanted (out of Modern Masters 24 choices), and he got a little more on board. He picked “Passionate” and once the door was done, he was sold! I also picked up a new door mat, and a fun metal star accent to really give this space some character. I added some more fun flowers and it finally felt like a space I was happy to come home to!
And never mind the excitement my husband has at my completing yet another project….
