If your kids are anything like mine they get holes in the knees of their jeans every time they go outside! It is slightly annoying and really makes me feel a little trashy when I take them out with gaping holes in their pants. I am also not going to buy them a new pair of jeans every time they get a hole in them (I would be broke if I did)! So I have been patching them, now I am a lame sewer…I mean I really like the idea of sewing, and in my head I am a total rockstar at it, but in real life…not so much. However, I can rock an iron like nobody’s business! Enter the best kept secret of lazy mom’s everywhere – steam a seam! You can get it on Amazon here –> Warm Company Steam-A-Seam Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 Double Stick Fusible Web-9″X12″ Sheets 5/Pkg I love this stuff! So easy to use and the results are phenomenal! All you have to do it cut a piece of fabric large enough to cover the hole. Cut a piece of the steam a seam the same size. Attach the fabric to the steam a seam (one side basically falls off- that’s the side that goes on the patch fabric), and then peel off the other side of the paper backing and stick it on your clothes. At this point it is still totally movable so if you’re like me and you didn’t quite cover ALL of the hole the first time, it’s ok! Once you get it where you want it, take your hot iron and press that bad boy on there. Give it a couple of sprays of steam (ya know, because it is “steam” a seam) and you are done! No really, you are. See I told you it was the easiest way to patch jeans EVER! I don’t just use it for jeans though…leggings, sweatshirts…basically anything with a hole in it can be mended, no sewing required! Now, go patch something.
