I love planning room makeovers. Something about designing rooms calms me (I’m weird I know). So we are preparing to move into our forever home and my creative hands are itching to start making it our own. I have been so excited about it that I can hardly think clearly about any one space long enough to come up with a solid idea. I decided that I would start small and go for a space that we could live without for a weekend while I worked and wasn’t going to overwhelm me as I got going! I decided this was the upstairs kids bathroom. It is literally the size of a tiny closet and only has a sink and a toilet. Totally about function, not fashion!
World’s smallest bathroom!
I thought and thought and just let my fingers type out a stream of ideas whether or not they made sense that captured how i wanted the room to feel and any ideas i had.
Wood planked kids bathroom wall. Light grey blue paint. Rustic cabin unisex clean feel. Re-purposed light fixture with natural light bulbs for clean look. Maybe blue/ green mason jar sconces. Or re-purposed vases with interesting shape. Metal hooks for hand towels. Swap pedestal sink for tall skinny vanity for storage. Green, cream and blue accent colors for towels dispensers and accessories. Wall mounted shelf for toothbrushes, paste hair stuff etc.
Then I take my random stream of consciousness typing and turn it into a mood board. I like to use Olio Board, but sometimes I get frustrated at the lack of funky, diy stuff on there so i end up uploading a lot. This is what I came up with based on that brainstorm.
So now I need to get the hubby on board (he thinks that all my projects sound like a lot of work for him), but really I WANT to be the one cutting the boards and drilling the holes! Seriously. Wish me luck and I’ll let you know after we’ve moved in, unpacked and I have permission!! 😉
In the meantime, how do you brainstorm? What is your creative process? And if you haven’t already go vote for me at Crafting With the Stars (vote for me by clicking the photo in the link up. I’m #157). Thanks!!!!!!
