So my friend Kelly had this old brass and porcelain chandelier in their house when they bought it and they decided to upgrade their lighting so I was lucky enough to get this beauty totally free! It sat in my to do pile for months before I finally got around to tackling it. I just wasn’t sure how I wanted it to end up (or even where it was going to end up). Then we started the dining room makeover (chairs, wood sign, table) and I knew what had to happen. (Similar picture to mine before because I forgot to take a before picture)
So I took the whole thing apart and washed all the porcelain pieces and took the rest of to the garage to paint. Now here is my bogging fail…I forgot to take pictures of this part. Just imagine if you can an old kiddie pool with all the pieces in there and spray paint everywhere! Ok good. After a few hours (totally should have waited until the next day) I went to put it back together. Again insert giant fail here. I didn’t take any pictures of it while taking it apart or label it or really do anything to remember how to put it back together. I was very upset with myself at first and then I realized that no one was going to come over and tell me it was wrong no matter how I arranged it!
So my assistant and I tried several different combinations until we came up with one that worked. And we only had a couple of left over pieces! 🙂
Then it was time to hang that bad boy up! Now no joke this was soooooooo hard to do by myself because I had to hold it up and wire nut the wires and screw it in and on top of all that I couldn’t drop it. I had to use my ample bossom to rest the chandelier on while I hooked it up! Lol! Once it was up and secure and ready to go I decided that such a fancy (and bright) light needed a dimmer switch so I got busy once again!
Changing or a light switch is super easy as long as you aren’t scared of what might be hiding behind the switch plate. Luckily mine only had dust and dry wall debris in it! I followed the super easy picture diagram and 5 minutes later it was done!
Now we have a fantastic light for our fiesta themed dining room. What do you think, was it worth all the trouble?
