I’ve been bitten by the Instagram bug folks and it ain’t pretty. Well actually it is and that is part of the problem! Who knew that even someone like me with my less than stellar photos could apply a little filter and BAM master photographer! Ok, it may not be that simple, but as least this way I can mask some of the flaws of my photography with a little filter action.
I finally cleaned our mantle off from my birthday celebration (yes it took me a whole month), but then I was left with an empty vase and a fake orchid. This was not going to cut it so I shopped around my house and found a couple of other things to add.
The first thing I grabbed was this frame that was hanging on the wall in my craft room, it is probably my favorite three photos of my kids and the blue of the frame is enough to lift my spirits jsut by looking at it! It was a go! Then I added the amazing Goose Creek candle I won from Dana over at Crafted Niche last fall. I am amazed it has lasted this long since I will light it and leave it burning overnight because I forget to blow it out. It has the most amazing smell ever…mmmmm! That was looking better, but I knew I needed something else, something with pizzazz, something to make me look good…
Instagram to the rescue! I went online and downloaded nine images (making sure to equally represent all the kids) that looked like fun the sun, summer images. I used Photoshop to get them all on one image and then printed them off on some photo paper in my home printer! Super easy!! Then I took an old frame I had laying around, everyone has stacks of frames just laying around right…right!! I removed the back and the glass and used a staple gun to attach some wire that I had on hand from the $1 walmart bins to the back. I didn’t measure it, I didn’t line it up, I just totally winged it. Then I cut my pictures out and taped them to the wire. I thought about using those tiny clothespins, but I can’t for the life of me find mine and I didn’t want to run to the store! Then I propped it up on my mantle and called it a day!
