My littlest daughter is turning two next month and I can’t hardly believe it! I have been a little bit in denial over the whole thing, and haven’t spent any time thinking about her upcoming party. I finally got a grip last weekend and decided to start the party planning process! The first thing I needed to do was come up with a super cute and fun invitation. I think that creating invitations is my favorite crafty activity and if I could spend all day creating fun and crafty invitations for people I would!
I decided not to go with a specific theme this year (I just wasn’t feeling any of the ones that are out there) and decided instead to go with a more generic girly motif, which will allow me the flexibility to customize each aspect to fit my little girls personality. I knew I wanted a simply worded invite with a sewn paper bunting. I just LOVE sewing on paper! It is super easy, very forgiving and it never has to fit someone’s body!
I cut some cardstock I had leftover from a long ago project into 5″x8″ sheets and then used a photo corner rounder cutter thing to round all the corners. I typed up my invitation in Word, and made sure to keep it super simple. I then printed them off in my home printer.
The next step was to punch out all those triangles. Luckily my older daughters preschool has a handy triangle punch, so I borrowed it and punched while at our last Mom’s Group meeting. The last step was to lay them out onto the paper invitation and run them through the machine. I laid the first one out to check the spacing, but the rest I just fed the triangles one right after the other hoping for a more authentic bunting waving effect.
This project took me less than an hour start to finish (you know if I had actually done it in one sitting) and I think that the handmade look is to die for! I can’t wait to hand them out to our family and friends!
