Ever since I painted her walls, added the custom light and the giant wall art this summer I haven’t done a single thing to my baby girls bedroom. I’ve been a total slacker upstairs and my attention has been full focused on our new dining room makeover. However, while out looking for thrifty treasures to display in our new hutch I stumbled upon this shower curtain. I totally don’t need a new shower curtain, but it was the exact same colors that I have been trying to incorporate into my daughters bedroom! It wasn’t made of that heavy vinyl stuff, it was super thin polyester material and after about .2 seconds I threw it in the cart.
The first step was hiding those tell tale shower ring holes and creating a sleeve so that I could use the existing curtain bar. This was as simple as folding over the top edge and sewing a straight line. Now I am a pretty terrible seamstress (unless we are sewing paper) but even I can manage a straight line! It took about 5 minutes to pin and sew it and then I headed upstairs to test it out!
I got it hung and immediately fell in love with the colors. Also, did you know that it is infuriatingly hard to photograph a window. I must have taken about 400 pictures and still the middle is just totally washed out and glarey. So frustrating. While I was standing there admiring my handiwork and trying to ignore the horrible dirty and covered in crumbs carpet I had a realization. Some of you might remember that our ENTIRE house is hardwood floors hidden beneath horrible carpet. When we removed the carpet from the dining room it was a pain in the rear because it was laid professionally with staples and nails and a whole heap of other sharp things. However, upstairs it was just cut to fit and laid on the floor.
So I moved all her furniture to one side and started rolling that dirty carpet up (crumbs and all). Then I moved everything to the other side and finished rolling it up. It took me about 20 minutes and a whole lot of sweat, but the floors underneath are in near PERFECT condition! I almost shed a couple tears of joy at the beauty of it all. So in honor of beautiful hardwood floors I figured I would give you the grand tour update!
And just in case you were wondering I took down her giant framed photo because a) we moved the tv in there and it was in the way, and b) she is almost 2 and I wanted to change it out to something a little more fun! Her walls are unbearable bare but don’t worry I have some big plans for that! And in case you wanted to see a side by side (top/bottom) before and after, here it is!!
