Disclosure: As part of the DecoArt Blogger Program, I receive product for this post; however, all projects, pictures and opinions are my own.
So I’m back with another easy gift and I have to say that this one might be my favorite so far! These stenciled kitchen supplies were so easy to create and they are sure to add a pop of fun to any kitchen! For this project I used a bunch of wooden kitchen utensils I picked up from our local Goodwill, often times they will have retail merchandise at a fraction of the price and these were brand new spoons, stirrers and scrapers for only $1.50 each! I also picked up a ceramic spoon rest at the same time since every good cook (and even the not so good ones) needs a place to rest their utensil while dinner is cooking!
To add the designs I used DecoArt’s Elegance and Botanical stencils and their multi-surface satin enamels. These paints are amazing because you can use them on a variety of surfaces and (if baked) they become dishwasher safe! That made them the perfect choice for this project!
I started by washing everything and once it was dry rubbing it with some alcohol to make sure the surface was super clean and the paint would adhere and be permanent. Once that was done I picked out the stencils I wanted to use. The best part about these stencils is that they are sticky so you don’t have to worry about them moving around while you are mixing your paints. It also makes it super easy to reuse them over and over again. I stuck my stencil right in the center of the spoon rest and started painting. I used two different shades of green for the stems and buds, and three shades of red/orange for the flowers. I then used a decorative piece to add longer stems and leaves down the handle.
While that one dried I painted different flowers on the ends of each of the kitchen supplies using a few different stencils. I loved how many choices there were and how easy it was to make each design look professional. Once I was finished I put them up so that they could cure for 4 days. This is important in the process of making them dishwasher safe. After curing for 4 days, you put them in a cold oven and heat them to 325 degrees for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off and open the door. Let them cool completely in the oven and once they are completely cool they are ready to use!
These are going to make the perfect addition to my Christmas gifts this year (if I can bring myself to part with them)!

this is such a great idea! I think I’m going to make a set like this for my sister (who just moved back home from overseas with very little stuff and is an amazing cook) for Christmas. Thanks for the inspiration o((*^▽^*))o
