One of my favorite parts of Christmas is making the perfect gift for each member of my family. We have worked really hard to teach our kids that it doesn’t matter how much money someone spends on you, it’s about how much love they put into their gift. A few years ago (when our extended family tripled within a year) we decided to start a secret Santa Christmas exchange. Traditionally we do the name drawing at Thanksgiving and since we are hosting Thanksgiving this year it is one of my jobs to organize! I decided that it would be fun to add a little something to our name drawing this year and so I created these amazing cards. I personalized each one with a member of our family’s name and put two prompts on each card
Because I am making all of my gifts it helps me to know a little bit about what my person is hoping both to get and not get. For example on my “I’m not a huge fan of” section I will probably put cinnamon and the color orange and in my “I really love” section I’ll probably write earrings, vanilla scented items and the color turquoise. These don’t tell people what to buy me, but give some helpful hints as to what I might like!
I used this free digital download from Shabby Princess to create my cards in Photoshop, but you could just as easily decorate some 3×5 cards, cut up an old calendar or print of your own favorite images and cut them out.
So tell me, what does your family do for Christmas presents? Do you buy for everyone? No gifts for adults? Something else? Leave me a comment and let me know!
