Hey everyone! Today I have a really exciting treat for you, I have Rebecca from Hugs Are Fun over here sharing an easy kid’s Valentine’s Day craft! She will be taking over once a month to share a fun kid’s craft with you, make sure click over to her site as well for lot’s of fun stuff!
My name is Rebecca and I am a mom to two girls, Evie is 3 and Mira is 7 months. I have my BFA in illustration and use those skills for a variety of crafts and art projects. I love doing design, cross stitching, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and I’ve recently started quilting. I love creating fun projects to do with my daughter and can’t wait until her little sister is old enough to join in!
I’m going to show you how to make a Valentine’s Day Dreamcatcher, but this could really be made for any season or holiday!
You’re going to need:
Yarn
Pony Beads
6″ wooden embroidery hoop
Pipe Cleaners
First start by having your toddler string the beads on the pipe cleaner. We used an assortment of different pink, red, white, and purple beads. Once you have the beads on, shape the pipe cleaner into a heart and twist it together at the bottom.
The next part is a little tricky so you might have to do it, or help your toddler wrap the yarn. Start with the yarn in between the two hoops and wrap it over and over, securing the heart into place.
You can use any combination of colors, but I liked the way the white pipe cleaner heart popped against the red and hot pink yarn. It definitely doesn’t have to be perfect, just keep wrapping until you’re happy with how it looks, or your toddler gets bored.
The metal part at the top of the hoop is perfect for stringing with a ribbon to hang for a fun and festival Valentine’s Day decoration!
