This is one of those projects that I have been wanting to make for about 100 years, but just never got around to doing. With one of my 2014 goals being to do 12 Pinterest pins I figured that I should bite the bullet and get it done! I was lacking in Valentine’s Day decor and so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone!
It all started with some 2×4 pieces that I had lying around. I am not really sure where they originated, but somehow they made there way into a pile in my craft room! I started off by giving each one a light sanding on the edges, top and bottom, just enough to make sure I wouldn’t get any splinters. I then used a foam brush and my favorite bottle of craft stain to cover the top and sides and a border around each of the “faces” of the blocks.
While that was drying I raided my scrapbook paper stash and found two pink papers that I liked. I cut them into rectangles making sure that each piece would leave a border around the edge of the block so my staining would still be visible. Once the stain was dry I applied some Mod Podge onto the face of the block and smoothed the paper down on top of the block.
While that dried I pulled out some of the left over contact paper from my hutch makeover and grabbed my Slice Machine. I cut out a “L”, “V”, “E” and a heart. When the Mod Podge was dry I peeled the backing off the letters and attached them to the blocks. That was it! I took them out into my living room and displayed them on our built shelves. Finally, a little bit of LOVE has made it’s way into my home! Surprisingly this project spawned a little heart/love fever and I have a few other projects in the works for you!

What a neat and simple way to make use of some leftover wood and scrap papers. Our neighbor just dropped off some scrap wood and this will be on my project list. BTW- found your blog from the Link’n Blogs Party.
