My husband and I don’t often get to go out and celebrate Valentines Day with a date night because finding a sitter seems to be even harder on these fun holidays and the fact that this year Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday night makes that task even harder. Today I am sharing with you my secrets to having a successful Valentine’s date night in at home.
Dinner
The first thing you need to do is plan an easy meal that looks like you slaved over it for hours (even though you didn’t!) One of the easiest ways to do this is by ordering a meal from Plated. Plated is a service that sends you a box full of ingredients to make a fancy dish at home. You simply go to their website and pick out a delivery day, and then choose a meal from their menu. I opted to make a copycat version of their burger and asian slaw! It is a simple dish that packs a lot of flavor and looks like a million bucks on the plate!
Movie
Once your partner has a full belly it’s time to snuggle up on the couch and pick out a movie. This can be super tricky at our house because you want something that lends itself to romance without being too girly. Luckily Vudu has about a million choices and you can pick your movie from the comfort of your couch! No driving to a store or hoping a box has what you want.
Dessert
Once dinner has settled and you are cozy on the couch it’s time to pull out the big guns. Boozy Bread Pudding (recipe at the end of the post! You’ll need to make this ahead of time and then pop it in the oven just as you are starting the movie. It takes a whole hour to bake so it is pretty easy to just pop it in and forget about it! Once you pull it out, drizzle some of the yummy sauce over top and then serve it up to that special someone in your life. It’s warm and gooey insides paired with just a hint of Kahlua will get everyone involved feeling all warm and fuzzy and ready for romance.
Romance
After your movie is over, and dessert is gone it’s time to head to the bedroom…for the real good stuff 😉 One of my favorite secret weapons in the bedroom is the K-Y Yours+Mine Couples Lubricants. I know you have seen the commercials and I promise they do not disappoint!
Now that you know all my secrets to a successful Valentine’s date night in I’ll let you in on one more little secret. If you head to Walmart now and pick up the K-Y Yours+Mine Couples Lubricants you will find a coupon code for 2 free gourmet meals from plated.com AND a $5 VUDU movie credit for you to stream right at home. Now hurry up and pick up your box and get your successful #KYdatenight started!
Boozy Bread Pudding
- 4 cups cinnamon swirl French Toast bread, cubed
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup kahlua
- 1 1/2 eggs
- 1/2 cup raisins
Sauce
1/2 cup caramel sauce
1/2 cup Kahlua
Cube about half a loaf of cinnamon swirl french toast bread and divide into four individual baking cups. Top each dish with some of the raisins. Whisk the sugar, milk, Kahlua and eggs together in a bowl and pour mixture into each of the baking cups. Gently press the bread into the liquid so that the bread can fully absorb the liquid and then set aside for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes preheat your oven to 350* and gently press the bread into the liquid again. Once the oven is hot place the cups into the oven and leave it to bake for 60 minutes! When the time is up, and you go to remove them don’t be surprised if your bread has raised up almost twice the height of the cup. I wish I had gotten a picture of this step, but they shrunk back down so quickly I missed it. While they are still hot pour some of the caramel Kahlua sauce over top. Serve warm and enjoy!
