So for those of you who don’t know I also have an Etsy shop. I’ve gone through the years changing out what I sell based on what my interests are (maybe not the best business plan, but it’s more for fun) and one of the items I used to carry were fun bottle cap magnets. I still had a few St. Patrick’s Day ones in my stockpile and so I thought I would show you how easy it is to make your own set of fun holiday magnets!
First things first you are going to need nine bottle caps, now you can go buy some on Etsy, or maybe even pick some up at the craft store, but let’s be real, you can also just save them off your beer bottles! I have a bunch that I have saved (like literally jars full) and with a little spray paint you can have bottle caps in any color! For these ones I am just going to use plain black, because I am boring like that. Then download this file and print it off as a 4×6 photo at your favorite photo lab or simply print it off from your home printer.
The next step is to punch them out with a 1″ punch or use scissors to cut around the outline to get them into the circle shape you need to fit inside your bottle cap. Use a little dab of your favorite glue to stick them in and then wait for it to dry. Once it is dry you can either use some dimensional mod podge, an epoxy sticker or you can just leave them as is. If you use a dimensional product you’ll have to wait for it to dry otherwise you can flip it over and attach a magnet to the back immediately. I like use round magnets with adhesive backs because it goes so much quicker, but you can use any kind of magnet that you have laying around the house! In the past I have used magnetic vent covers that they sell at the dollar store and just cut them into circles and stuck them on the back with some spray adhesive. Really this craft is super versatile and you can use any number of materials to get the same effect!
As an added bonus (because I love you all) I am going to give away a set of these fun St. Patricks Day magnets to one of YOU lucky readers. Simply enter on the rafflecopter below!
