So around this time of year I always get bitten with the eat better bug. You know the one that starts off with one “wrong” click of the netflix remote and ends 6 hours later with you swearing off all animal products and planning your next protest in front of a fast food joint. Well this year I am prepared! We try really hard to eat locally and seasonally during the summer and fall when things are actually growing here in the pacific northwest. This usually translates to a lot more salads and homemade veggie burgers.
But sometimes making all those changes (last year I attempted to go vegan- it was hard) can be overwhelming and you give up right away. Fortunately there are some small changes you can make that can really change the way you feel. The easiest one in my opinion is trading out regular milk for a plant based alternative. Silk is my favorite brand (I’ve been buying their products for the last 7 years!) and they have recently become certified by the Non-GMO project plus they are both dairy and gluten free!
One of the easiest ways to start this transition is to start by replacing the milk in your cooking and baking. Switching to Silk is an easy, delicious way to start adding more plants to your diet. The change is super subtle and no one will even notice the difference. I’ve used soy milk in mac & cheese, soups, pudding and a million other recipes! Another super easy change is switching your coffee creamer to a plant based version. Now you all know that I take my coffee pretty seriously so if I can make the switch and survive- anyone can! I always order my latte’s with either soy or almond milk and I can’t tell the difference!
The point I am making is that there are a million ways to make a small change and improve your healthy feeling. We have been drinking Silk products ever since my son was 1. He was diagnosed with a milk allergy and so we didn’t have a choice. I went from drinking 2 gallons of milk a week to drinking maybe a half gallon. I used soy milk to make everything! Right now you can go sign up for a coupon and get $0.75 off any Silk half gallon! You have no excuse not to go try it! Plus when you register, you can also look forward to: Coupons delivered to your inbox plus a special birthday offer; Monthly chances to win a year’s supply of Silk!
So which flavor are you most excited to try?
