I saw this adorable garland in the PBK website and loved how sweet and whimsical it was. I especially loved the cotton ball pouf detail on the tail. I decided that this was the perfect thing for the arch in our living room and it would add just the right amount of spring and Easter goodness to our decor. I also knew that I could do it for significantly less than the $26 they were selling it for.
I started off by finding a bunny outline that I liked online and then printing it off in approximately the size I wanted (I went with about 8″ tall). I then picked out a bunch of pretty spring colored papers and paper clipped them together four at a time. I traced my bunny shape onto the top paper and then cut them out. I repeated this process three times and ended up with twelve bunnies. Once they were all cut out I cut a piece of jute to the length of my archway and tied it off on the tacks that were still there from Christmas (oops)! I then taped each bunny to the jute with a little piece of tape on the back of each ear. I probably could have done this while it was on the ground to make it easier, but I wanted to make sure the spacing was right so I just climbed on a chair and got it done!
Once they were all up, I grabbed a handful of regular cotton balls the kind you use to take your nail polish off and a bottle of regular Elmer’s glue. I smeared some glue on the cotton ball and then stuck it on the paper. They are pretty light so I wasn’t worried about them falling off while they dried.
And there you have it! Using only materials I already had around my house I recreated this darling bunny garland for FREE! And it makes me giggle every time I look at it! Have you made any Easter decorations yet? Do you have some on your to do list?
