My kids are all officially on summer vacation now and that means that bedtimes are later, rules are looser and there is more fun to be had. Like everyone else in America (and around the world) we love Girl Scout cookies and when I heard that they were going to be pairing up with Nestle Crunch to create new #Cookies2Crunch I knew that I had something special to help celebrate our new found summer freedom! I talked it over with my kiddos and after kicking around a bunch of ideas we decided to create our own ice cream sundae bar.
We went on the hunt for this new cookie/candy bar at our local Walmart and we might have surprised some of the employees because they were still in the process of unloading them off pallets in the back of the store! They were kind enough to grab me a couple of boxes so we didn’t have to wait for the display to be set up. I’m sure by the time you go to look for them they will be ready and waiting for you right up front by the register! But don’t wait because the NESTLÉ® CRUNCH® Girl Scouts® bars will only be available at Walmart until the end of the summer.
Once we got those bad boys home I started setting up our ice cream sundae bar. I created some fun labels for our toppings to mimic what it’s like going to the ice cream parlor and getting to pick your own toppings. I really wanted to play off the fun flavors of the girl scout cookies (the stars of the show) so we got some chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, strawberry sauce, chopped nuts and whipped cream! My kids are so funny we tried to think of all the fun combinations we could make with these flavors and I think my favorite was the pb & j one that my son came up with! He wanted to mix the Peanut Butter Creme bars with some strawberry sauce and chopped nuts, which I thought was pretty creative, although once he saw all the chocolate choices he changed his mind!
Ice Cream Sundae Girl Scout Flavor Combination Ideas:
- Thin Mint Crunch Bars and chocolate sauce
- Coconut & Caramel Crunch Bars, caramel sauce and chocolate sauce
- Peanut Butter Creme Crunch Bars, strawberry sauce and chopped peanuts
We started off by chopping up a few of each of the flavors of Crunch bars into little pieces and putting them into little bowls. We added our labels to the backs of the bowls so they knew which one was which. Then we added our labels to the front of each of the topping jars and put them all out on our sundae station. Then they each set about making their perfect sundae, making sure to top them off with their favorite girl scout cookie crumbles!
I thought that since my kids had so much fun creating an ice cream sundae bar at our house, your kids (or you) might enjoy it as much so I am sharing all the printables I used right here! Just click on the image to be taken to the download page.
