Back in the 80’s when I was a kid we had one of those over the shoulder video cameras. Now for those of you who aren’t old enough to remember them let me share a secret with you. They were not that amazing. They recorded straight onto VHS tapes and the viewfinder didn’t show color as you recorded only black and white so it was kind of a trip to watch while you recorded. We made bunches of videos as kids and my mom saved all of them!
When I grew up and became a responsible adult my mom passed all of those old tapes on to me. The only downside was that we couldn’t watch them because we didn’t have a VCR. So they got stuck in a box for someday. I had heard of a couple of companies that would do VHS transfers, but I was reluctant to send my tapes off with them because they were the originals. Straight out of 1987! So, I waited. And the tapes sat. You see these tapes are so old that they have both my parents on them. Together. Married. My parents split up with I was 5 and I have pretty vague memories of life when they were together. My dad also passed away when I was 17 and so these tapes are the only footage of him that I have. None of my kids ever got to meet him and so these tapes were kind of the last living relic from those days. You can see why I was reluctant to hand them off to just anyone, right…
Then YesVideo came along, and they had a pretty sweet offer. I still wasn’t sure I could go through with it though. That was until the EasyShip Kit showed up on my doorstep.
Inside that outer wrapping is a pre-labeled box filled with packing paper, VHS protector bag, easy instructions and the best part – strips of packing tape ready to go for you to seal the box when you were done. I mean seriously, those precut and ready to use strips of tape sealed the deal. Literally! I hate when you have to mail something back to a company and it takes forever because you have to find your own tape.
I was able to wrap up my videos stick them in the box and send it back in the mail in about 10 minutes. Even with the stopping to take pictures so I could show all of you how easy it was. Ten minutes people. Even my kids had no idea what was happening it was so fast! As soon as they received my boxes they emailed me to let me know. They seem to realize that these are people’s precious life memories they are dealing with and they are super sensitive to your needs. The best part though, once my tapes had been transferred (even before they sent them back in the mail) they uploaded them IN FULL into my online account. From there I could watch them, email them to other people (I sent them to my sister) or even allow up to 5 other people access to my account so they could watch them too! Obviously I sent them to my sister because I knew she would want to see them too. It took about 10 minutes for her to get them, and set up her own account and then she was watching our childhood movies from her computer! Incredible!!!
But wait, there’s more! (I have always wanted to say that!) You can get 20% off your order with code “YVBLOG20” through September 30, 2014!
