It’s finally fall and since it is my favorite time of year I felt like making a simple wreath and getting my porch ready was the least I could do. I didn’t want anything to big or overpowering (I like simple wreaths) and so I started with a really basic grapevine oval frame. It only took me about 30 minutes start to finish, and I actually did it while hanging out in the living room watching some football with my hubby. No reason not to combine some of my favorite things!
I started off by using a few old berry branches that I had lying around, cast off’s from some of my mother in-laws old fake flower arrangements she had given me a while back. I simple tucked the bottoms into the grape-vine and used a glue gun to attach the tops to the wreath. Then I grabbed some fabric scraps in fall colors and followed this tutorial (one of the best in my opinion) to make the fabric rosettes. I made a variety of sizes and used a few different colors and textures of fabrics so that my wreath would have some different textures to the layers.
I then made a few felt flowers by following this tutorial and this tutorial (why reinvent the wheel!) and used some single colors and some multicolored petals, again to add interest.
Once those were all glued on, I got started on the banner. I cut some old book pages into triangles and taped them onto a piece of twine I had tied onto the wreath at a slight angle. Once they were attached I got busy cutting my letters. I still don’t have a fancy Silhouette or Cricut, but I do have my trusty Slice machine and I was able to cut out the letters for fall really quickly. I then rolled some glue onto the back and stuck them onto the book pages. I am so in love with the simplicity of it and how it really dresses up my front porch! I can’t wait to show you some of the other updates I’ve made to the porch this week, including a few spooky surprises!
