I shared this post a while back over at Made to Be a Momma, but it was such a fun and easy one that I wanted to share it here with you too! Last spring I went to SNAP (a creative bloggers conference) and I knew that I was going to be taking a billion notes while there so I needed a sturdy notebook. I also knew that I wanted one that was small enough to fit in my purse and I wanted to customize it to fit my blog. I found exactly what I was looking for at the Dollar Tree of all places! It was a mid-sized notebook with a hard cover and back and it was spiral bound which meant that it would lay flat as I took notes. It also featured an awesome elastic band so I could bookmark where I left off in the previous session without having to flip through dozens of pages. LOVE!
I started off by cutting about 25 1 1/2″ triangles from the awesome Amy Tangerine paper I talked about here. I used green, yellow and feather print. Once they were all cut out I started gluing them down in a loose pattern. I didn’t worry too much about spacing or lining them up exactly, I just eyeballed it. I used a liquid glue stick that I also picked up at the dollar store (I seriously love that place!!) I left myself about a 1 1/2 – 2″ space in the middle because I knew that I was going to want to add my blog name to the cover so that in case I lost it someone would know where to return it. Plus a little extra marketing never hurt anyone. 😉
Once all the triangle were dry I grabbed my trusty Sharpie paint markers in white and gold and wrote in my name. Again I didn’t worry too much about spacing or lining it up perfectly, I just freehand wrote it in. The end result was one that I love so much! With back to school happening and the need for notebooks being so real right now I am planning on creating a couple more so that I have an easy spot to take notes at staff meetings, classroom observation notes and even notes with our nanny so I don’t miss a single thing my sweet kids are up to during the week while I am working! What would you use a notebook for?
