I’ve seen Perpetual Desktop Calendars on Etsy and in stores and love them. I wondered how easy it would be to make my own. It’s a little time consuming, but so fun and well worth it.
you will need a few things
– a wooden box
– decorative paper
– Mod Podge
– foam brush
– sand paper
– scissors
– index cards
– printer or roller date stamp
– bone folder (optional)
The first thing I did was find a wooden box large enough to hold my index cards. I found this box at Hobby Lobby – it was about $3
I ran all of my index cards through my printer. This is the time consuming part. Yes, I typed out each day of the year and printed…yep, all 365 days. You could also use a rolling date stamp like this one from American Crafts
Once that’s completed, all you need to do is cover your box inside and out. You should use your scissors to trip and also use sandpaper to make your edges as smooth as possible. I also used a bone folder for the inside corners. I opted to cover the holes (handles) because I didn’t need them for this project. And that’s it, you’re done.
I love the way this one turned out I can’t wait to start using mine Jan 1st. It’s going to be fun to use this year after year to see what we were doing to prior years.
