Are your children in love with Frozen? If your kids have caught the Frozen bug then you know just like I do that your house is already full of Frozen toys, clothes, songs, the movie ( & an additional copy <just in case>) and your there are a few things under your tree Frozen related. Even the wrapping paper under our free is Frozen. So why not have a little fun with you kids and/or let them make snowflakes to decorate the house and make it a snowflake Frozen atmosphere.
If you have an Elf on the Shelf like we do this is fun to do in the kids room for them and then leave coffee filters & markers out for them to make their own.
Here is all you will need:
- Coffee Filters
- Markers
- Scissors
- String/Yarn/Fishing Line
- Hole Punch {if you are hanging them. If you don’t have one though, no worries}
- Tape/Thumbtack {if you are hanging them}
Let the kids design their Coffee filters in big bold colors or patterns. {Remember you are going to be cutting it so you could even color it if you wanted it to be a specific color.
Once you have completed decorating your coffee filter you are going to fold it in half, and then fold in half again, & in half again.
After you have folded it the 3 times, began cutting your snowflake on the long side. Cut in different zigzags and different was from bottom to top.
When you have finished cutting the design, carefully open up the coffee filter to reveal your Snowflake!
If you have a hole punch, go ahead and punch a hole at the top of the snowflake. If you do not have hole punch cut a small slit at the top of the snowflake, big enough to insert a piece of string.
Cut string for snowflake to hang as high or as low as you would like and insert into the hole/slit you made on the snowflake.
Hang with a piece of tape or thumbtack. You can even hang these all on the tree.
I know that this was a very fun craft for us and especially since . Next year I am going to be adding glitter to these and possibly doing a lot of them to decorate all of the playroom. These are incredibly easy and the kids will love being creative with MARKERS, because let’s face it we do not allow the kids to color with markers as much as they would like. Merry Christmas Everyone!
