Hello, My Craftily Ever After readers! I’m Shelly and I blog over at Dolen Diaries where I share my love of all things creative. I live in the greater Seattle-ish area with my husband and three crazy, fun boys. I am obsessed with unique {& cheap} art pieces especially Reclaimed Wood Wall Art!
A few months ago a stack of amazing crusty old fence boards found it’s way onto my front porch. I couldn’t wait to make something with them! All on their own they had the most fabulous color and personality so I decided to keep it simple and just add a little pop of pattern!
I found this phone cover stencil {Phone Vinyl 08} in the Cricut Design Space and loved the pattern but it was much too small. So I enlarged it to match the width of my board.
I cut the stencil out of thick cardstock and was ready to paint! I varied the amount of white acrylic paint I used on the stencil through out the design giving the piece a more distressed look.
Don’t you just love the pattern of the stencil on top of the distressed wood!?!
When we moved into our new fixer upper, one of the things I adored about it was all of the natural light but the french door needed a little something. My Reclaimed Wood Wall Art was the perfect piece to add a little pop of me above the door without losing any of the natural light I’m so crazy about!
Don’t have access to reclaimed wood!?! You can buy a piece of fencing and leave it outside for a bit to create your own old wood or simply stain the fencing and stencil over that! In fact, I’m working on another fencing piece for my middle son’s bedroom using black and white stained stripes on new wood. A little painters tape and some stain is all I needed! Pop on over to Dolen Diaries to check out all my latest projects!

Love the way this frames and decorates the doorway without the use of curtains. Love it!
