Prologue: I really wanted to write a funny title for this post. Ode to a Wax Warmer. Edison, You Make Me Melt. Vintage Style (imagine that like Gangnam Style in your head). I didn’t though, because I thought you might think I was weird, which I am. But…leave me a comment if you like punny post titles.
Most of you know that I teach 4th grade. What you don’t know, or maybe don’t remember, is what 4th grade smells like in the spring. There’s the combination of wet kids, hormonal kids, dirty kids, sweaty kids and everything else you can imagine. I’ve been avoiding having a public service announcement about hygiene in class (because that does not sound like fun) so I have been trying to figure out how to combat it in a tasteful way. I tried plug in air fresheners, I tried room spray and it just didn’t work so I decided to break out the big guns and get one of those fancy warmers.
First off I went to go pick one out and I was amazed by the sheer number of waxes there were to choose from at Walmart. I was so distracted and totally thrown into an indecisive spiral. I really just wanted to get one of everything. Then I realized I still needed to pick out a warmer. As I was looking for one that would blend in to my classroom and still be pretty to look at I was distracted by this amazing Edison bulb one. It was perfect. For my house.
Mind you, I wasn’t looking for a warmer for my house, but this one. It is beautiful. It is really more of a decorative piece that happens to be a warmer, than a warmer that is a decorative piece. I would have bought it even if it didn’t make my house smell amazing. It’s got the perfect soft, warm glow and this nostalgic shape that really works with the feel of our home. In case you need to get your hands on this exact one it is the ScentSationals Edison Nautical Wax Warmer.
So I happen to have an antique roll top desk that was handed down from my great grandmother, just hanging out in my living room. So obviously I added this warmer to the top of that. It is the perfect amount of light to give it this vintage glow, like it might have looked in it’s original state. Pair that with some rustic florals and my favorite magazines and it is like a little slice of heaven.
Now just in case you’ve never used a warmer before you should always follow the instructions for using it very carefully. Just saying. Oh and in case you’re wondering, I did remember to get one for my classroom too. It’s perfect. Subtle, clean, and deliciously good smelling (we’ve got the rock candy wax melting right now).

Where did you get that beautiful warmer? My son has loved Thomas Edison and that is an “Edison” light bulb. Thanks!

Haha, kids, especially pre-teens, can certainly be smelly! I really love the rustic simplicity of that Edison design! #client
