Hi crafty friends! It’s Shelly popping over from Dolen Diaries to share another quick & easy project! Today I’m going to show you how my husband and I put together a two person workstation for my craft room.
I have an old school table that I create on but I really wanted my own little office space that no one else would touch as well as a multipurpose spot for homework, using my craft machines, etc. My craft room isn’t overly large, it is only 10 x 10 square feet so a two person workstation was the perfect answer for this space.
Supplies:
- Ikea:
- 4 white metal desk legs
- 2 desk tops
- 1 rolling drawer cart
- Home Depot:
- 2 Simpson flat brackets
- 8 screws 1 1/4″
- electric drill
Attach two legs to each desk top.
Start by flipping the desk tops over face side down with the ends together.
Slide the two desk tops together (I held them tightly together with my foot while I took photos.) and place the brackets over the seam.
Screw the brackets onto the underside of the desk tops.
Flip the desk over onto it’s legs and you’re ready to add your cart. *Do not use the desk like this, it is not strong enough to withstand a lot of weight.
Slide the rolling drawer cart centered under the seam to give the desk the stability it needs. *The Ikea way to put this together would be to attach the desk top to the rolling cart. However, we know we will be remodeling our home over the course of the next few years and I wanted to keep the desk parts as versatile as possible. For example if I want to later use the cart on it’s own I still can because it doesn’t have big holes drilled in the top. Instead of drilling holes we added non slip rubber stoppers to the top.
I added a couple of white desk chairs from Ikea as well and I’m ready to set up my workstations! Easy peasy, right!?! How would a two person workstation get used at your house? I’ll be back next month to show you how I set mine up!

Found your entry through pinterest. Thank you for sharing this incredible hack! I’d love to do something like this for my new apartment but am having trouble locating these items on IKEA. Would you mind sharing which ones you used? Thank you so much!
