Fall is my favorite time of year and decorating for fall is probably my favorite season to get all festive. The kids went to grammy’s house this past weekend so I was able to get our vintage roll top decked out with some a spooky scene. One of the things I was having a really hard time finding was a black candle. Apparently people aren’t breaking down doors to add black candles to their decor! I went over to Walmart though and low and behold the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand has a black candle. In a bagillion styles and sizes!! **bonus** The fragrance is amazing!
I started off by laying down a yard of black lace on the top of the desk I added a tall glass vase and a pack of lighted branches. There were several colors of branches (white, super dark and this natural one), I went with natural because I am sure I can incorporate it into more seasons by keeping it neutral. I also picked up a small package of matte and glossy ornament balls, as well as a pack of iridescent ones.
I also took a few old pickle, salsa and sauce jars and spray painted them black. While I was spray painting those I also took bag of mini pumpkins and spray painted them black, white and gold (and a couple natural for good measure).
While those dried I searched for some spooky potion bottle labels. I found some I liked HERE. Once the jars were dry I simple attached the paper labels with a glue stick.
I also picked up a large tumbler of the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand in Moonlight Magic (the black candle) and two small tumblers in Buttercream Frosting and Fall Favorites. It was really hard to pick though, and in the end it came down to the perfect colors. They were just the perfect touch and for under $25 it was a steal!
Last was adding this raven I picked up years ago and this funny ceramic owl I found at the thrift store for 50 cents! I repurposed my paper bats from last year and stuck them on the wall for the last little touch of scare. Overall I am so in love with how it turned out and I can’t stop smiling at it!

These turned out great- very spooky in a playful way! The black finish is even almost antiqued! #client
