I have an insane love for all things girly and floral when it come to throwing a party. In real life my style is way more practical and monochromatic, but in party land, the bolder & brighter the better. This is why any excuse I get to throw a party is a good one! This post is part of my rustic floral party series, you can see all the posts here!
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times, I’m not a baker. I don’t love the tedious measurements, the patience of waiting for things to cool, and the labor intensive frosting process. Instead I love my local bakeries. They can bake, and wait, and frost all day long and I get to do the part I like, stage them! For this fabulous cake and cupcake display I started off with two dozen cupcakes, half with white frosting and half with chocolate. I’m all about diversity! I gently placed each cupcake inside an additional cupcake wrapper to add fullness and texture to my display.
Then once all the cupcakes were staged on the bottom two levels of the stand I started adding the flowers. I’m a total fake flower snob and won’t buy just any flower. I also don’t want to spend an arm and a leg of fake flowers, so let me tell you these flowers are the best bang for your buck! They are bright and vibrant without being obviously fake looking, and from a distance you can’t even tell that they aren’t real! Another nice thing about using fake flowers here is that you don’t have to worry about flower pieces falling off into your cupcakes. The last thing anyone wants is to go take a bit of their treat and find a leaf or (heaven forbid) a bug climbing along! I simply cut them apart into small bunches and stuck them in throughout the cupcakes.
For the top of the stand I picked up a 6″ plain cake from the bakery. I used the same small flowers to accent it, but also added a large flower from this bunch of flowers. Seriously I love Amazon!
